Mark has been called "The six string winged, improvising shaman" and is widely acclaimed as one of the UK's foremost jazz guitarists. Guitar Player Magazine recently called Mark: "Unique and sophisticated...(one of) England's most accomplished players." and "Consistently brilliant and forward-thinking”. Words such as "guitar virtuoso" "uplifting" "inspiration" (Guitar Techniques Magazine) have been used to describe Mark's playing and music. He has toured extensively across Europe and as far afield as Istanbul with his own group as well as with other jazz groups such as Scapetrace and SMQ. As well as recording and performing with some of the UK's best musicians, Mark's interest in world music has led him to collaborate with non-western musicians such as Lebanese singer Samia Afra, Turkish musician Gökhan Özyavuz, Zambian singer KT Lumpa and others. As well as jazz, his composing extends into classical forms, his pieces being performed by top classical musicians in NY, London and elsewhere. |
